A t-shirt company in PA has created a t-shirt making fun of Ohio State and their embattled coach, Jim Tressel, and surprise surprise, lauding their own coach Joe Paterno. One one side the shirt says “Legends” with a picture of JoePa’s legendary glassed while on the back it says “Liars” with a red sweater vest.
The red sweater vest is identical to the one Tressel always wears during games. Ohio State’s football program has been under scrutiny in recent months when several players were caught selling their Ohio State gear in return for gifts.
The shirt is playing off the Big Ten’s new Legends and Leaders divisions, which (shocking) is still called that. When the names first came out, there was so much backlash that Big Ten officials agreed to “review” the names.
As for Ohio State and Jim Tressel, nothing new seems to be going on. The university seems content to just accept the current punishment and wait for the NCAA ruling.
In other news, Boise State got formally charged by the NCAA for “lack of insititional control” and was hit with 22 major violations.
“We are deeply committed to following all NCAA rules and to ensuring that our athletic department works diligently so that our procedures reflect the highest standard,” Boise State president Bob Kustra said in a statement. “I am disappointed that we face these allegations. It is unacceptable, and the athletic department staff understand and agree with my position.”
